Kenneth Lies

Kenneth M. Lies is an Architect and Principal at Raths, Raths & Johnson, Inc. where he oversees and consu on project assignments involving architectural design, material and system applications, building diagnost and forensics. Mr. Lies has been with RRJ since 1983, during which time he has been involved with a varie projects which have included the investigation, evaluation, analysis, and rehabilitation of numerous buildin located throughout the country. His areas of expertise include: architectural technology and design; condit survey documentation; water leakage and moisture diagnostics; material and systems evaluations; mater and systems testing; contract document preparation and peer review; building codes and standards analy and design professional standard of care. Mr. Lies has provided technical consultation, litigation support, a deposition and trial testimony on numerous matters. Mr. Lies has a broad range of experience with buildin enclosures, cladding materials and wall systems including windows, curtain walls, waterproofing and air barrier membranes, wall sidings, exterior insulation and finish systems (EIFS), masonry, roofing, flashings and coatings. He has published papers and articles relevant to the areas of his expertise and made formal presentations at ASTM symposiums and to industry groups. He holds two degrees from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign: Master of Architecture, Concentration in Architectural Design, 1983 and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies, 1981. He is licensed as an Architect in Illinois and numerous other states and holds a certificate from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) additin to BEC_Chicago, Mr. Lies is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), The Constructi Specifications Institute (CSI), and the Building Enclosure Technology & Environment Council (BETEC). His involvement in professional organizations includes participation in ASTM International Main Committee E06 Performance of Buildings and Subcommittees E06.55 – Exterior Building Wall Systems and E06.58 – Exter Insulation and Finish Systems.
