We are planning an in person gathering to get a tour of Loyola University’s Schreiber Center and a presentation from one of the project engineers and designers, Erik Olsen from Transsolar. The event space has a maximum capacity of 30 so registration will be cut off after that number is reached.

Please RSVP at this link.

Loyola University’s Schreiber Center - 16 E Pearson St, Chicago, IL 60611, Wednesday May 13, 2026. The presentation will begin at 5:30 so please arrive early to find a seat. There will be someone in the lobby to direct attendees to the correct meeting room and the tour will immediately follow.

Erik Olsen from Transsolar Klima Engineering will be giving us his presentation titled:

‘The Future is Low Tech. Is the Future Low Tech?’

High-tech facades are often presented as fundamental to the definition of a high-performance building, but Transsolar’s practice has seen a clear shift toward low-tech solutions in the last twenty years. Olsen will share how this shift manifested in Transsolar’s work around the world without losing a clear focus on facades in support of human-centered environments, low energy use, and low carbon emissions. Based on that trajectory, he sees two potential directions for the next ten years, and will make the case for what we need from tomorrow’s facades while exploring the question: What do we mean by low-tech?
