ABSTRACT:

The technical and logistical aspects behind building enclosure testing may be confusing enough, but when compounded with a never-ending slurry of ASTM and AAMA standards, it becomes easy to get lost in the details. This presentation will cover common building testing including whole-building air leakage testing,  site-specific air leakage testing,  and various types of water penetrations testing. Specific topics to be addressed include descriptions of the testing, what the testing entails, applicable codes, technical and logistical requirements, benefits of the testing, and systems applicable to each type.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Learn how to distinguish differences between commonly specified tests
  2. Learn best practices in specifying field tests
  3. Learn the logistical parameters behind each test
  4. Learn various codes and programs requiring each test
