ABSTRACT:

An ETFE cladding system is a durable, energy efficient, environmentally friendly technology, with light transmission properties comparable to transparent cladding systems, like glass, - but weighs much less. This course will discuss how ETFE cladding systems work, as well as applications, design considerations, and performance attributes. These include durability, fire safety, solar control, acoustics, and sustainability. Several case studies will demonstrate how this technology has been employed in iconic buildings world-wide.

Power Construction will discuss some of the scheduling, coordination and logistics of their experience with the system.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Explore the history and production of ETFE cladding systems.
  • Examine ETFE cladding system components and how they are installed.
  • Describe the material properties and attributes of using ETFE cladding systems.
  • Analyze the best practices for using ETFE cladding systems

PRESENTER BIO:

Chris Newcomb, Superintendent, joined Power Construction in 2006 as a Project Engineer.  He came to Power with a B.C.E. in Construction Engineering and Management from Purdue University.

Some of Chris's past project experiences with Power has included his role as Superintendent on the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, Fashion Outlets of Chicago, and Lurie Children's Hospital. He has demonstrated himself as a builder and consistently provides technical expertise, leadership, and attention to quality and safety for every project.  Additionally, he is very active in company training and development, teaching classes on scheduling, process controls and management, and mobile technology
