Sam Rubenzer, a structural engineer and principal of FORSE Consulting, has specific expertise in structural masonry design and a unique talent for adapting the latest finite element software tools to get the most out of masonry assemblies and systems. Sam is an expert who can teach other SE’s to become structural masonry experts using their current software.
The goal of introducing Sam to the structural engineering community in Chicago is so that Sam can come to your office and demonstrate the effectiveness of structural masonry through instruction on how to use your existing SE software to create efficient structural solutions with low cost, readily available and expedient masonry.

Pick a Wednesday in 2017 from above, then contact Teri Indelli at 630- 396-3144 or tindelli@imiweb.org to schedule a 30-60 minute meeting and a time slot between 9am and 4pm that works best for your team. If you want to do a working lunch, we will be happy to provide lunch.
During the initial meeting, we will ask you:
- to discuss the software tools your firm uses today and how you prefer to utilize them for structural design
- to explain the areas of design where you currently use structural masonry identify areas where you feel structural masonry could improve design but need education/ training to do so
- to provide your standard structural masonry details so we can review and comment.
If you have specific projects where you would like to consider an increased role of structural masonry, please bring those project documents to the meeting for review and discussion.
SE Masonry design and software training provided by SAM may be able to be offered to you as a CE learning unit and we can discuss that during the scheduling.
