ABSTRACT:

This program will review the current issue within the construction industry of latent moisture in new concrete roof decks. The presenter will summarize the problem, review available testing methods, present the most current research on the topic and make recommendations for design and specification of new concrete roof decks.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1. Be able to identify what and where latent concrete roof deck moisture is.

2. Identify the available testing methods for assessing moisture in concrete roof decks.

3. Discuss research underway to quantify the problem and solutions.

4. Learn design and installation techniques to mitigate moisture intrusion into roof systems from new concrete roof decks.

PRESENTER BIO:

Mathew Dupuis, PhD PE, is a Principal from SRI Consultants out of Middleton Wisconsin with nearly 20 years of experience.  His area of specialization lies within moisture movement, temperature modeling, solar reflectivity, research and failure analysis.  He has worked in the United States and internationally.  He has contributed to numerous publications and articles in addition to presenting topics such as roof temperatures and hygrothermal modeling at various roofing symposiums as well as the International Roofing Expo, MRCA, SPRI, RCI and others.
