TOUR AGENDA:
- Fenestration test lab – demonstrations of air/water/structural testing and impact testing
- Fire Resistance lab – several tests related to panel furnace and floor furnace, testing of doors, columns, floor assemblies to achieve hourly fire ratings
- Outdoor mock-up test wall – test demonstration
- NFPA 285 test lab – flame propagation testing of the exterior envelope required by the IBC when combustible components are used
- NEW Building Envelope Performance test lab (~6 blocks away, Address: 750 Anthony Trail, Northbrook) - review additional test demos and view plans for indoor mock-up testing that will be launched in April
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Review methods of lab fenestration testing
- Identify factors involved in air and water infiltration
- Discuss and view the process for testing exterior enclosures in accordance with NFPA 285
- Understand methods used to test building components for purposes of fire-rating
